چکیده

We measure the capacity of multiple-input multiple-output radio systems in microcellular environments. We use a new data evaluation method that allows to evaluate the cumulative distribution function of the capacity from a single measurement. This method is based on an extraction of the parameters of the multipath components and, thereafter, a synthetic variation of their phases. In the analyzed environments, we find capacities to be about 30% smaller than would be anticipated from an idealized model. In addition, the frequency selectivity of the channel makes the cdf of the capacity steeper and, thus, increases the outage capacity, compared with the frequency-flat case, but the influence on the mean capacity is small.

Capacity Performance of Adaptive Receive Antenna Subarray Formation for MIMO Systems

Antenna subarray formation is a novel RF preprocessing technique that reduces the hardware complexity of MIMO systems while alleviating the performance degradations of conventional antenna selection schemes. With this method, each RF chain is not allocated to a single antenna element, but instead to the complex-weighted and combined response of a subarray of elements. In this paper, we derive t...

Impact of Temporal SNR Variation on MIMO Channel Capacity in Urban Microcells

Usually the capacity of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication channels is evaluated under the assumption of fixed signal to noise (SNR) scenario. In this paper the impact of temporal SNR variation on capacity of MIMO wireless channels in urban microcells is considered. Results based on data measured in line of sight (LOS) and non line of sight (NLOS) propagation scenarios...

On the Capacity Formula for Multiple Input–Multiple Output Wireless Channels: A Geometric Interpretation

The capacity of multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) wireless channels is computed for Ricean channels. The novelty is a geometrical (ray-tracing) interpretation of the MIMO channel capacity formula to find array geometries which greatly enhance channel capacity compared to single input–single output (SISO) systems.

Capacity Optimized For Multicarrier OFDM-MIMO Antenna Systems

Motivated by MIMO broad-band fading channel model, in this section we deals with the capacity behaviour of wireless MIMO and OFDM based spatial multiplexing systems in broad-band fading environments for the case where the channel is unknown at the transmitter and perfectly known at the receiver. This influence the propagation and system parameters on ergodic capacity, we furthermore demonstrate...

Frequency correlation characteristics for broadband MIMO systems in indoor NLOS propagation environment

1. INTRODUCTION Due to the recent popularity of mobile phones and broadband wireless LANs, broadband wireless systems employing Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signals were introduced to combat the effects of multi-path fading in indoor wireless LAN systems. Moreover, Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) is incorporated into these broadband wireless systems using OFDM signals...
